MANHATTAN — The man accused of tossing a fake bomb into a police van in Times Square will undergo a psychiatric examination to see whether he’s fit to stand trial.

A Manhattan judge ordered the exam Wednesday, as 52-year-old Hector Meneses was arraigned by video from a hospital, where he’s been there since his arrest last Thursday.

Meneses, a Queens resident, hasn’t yet entered a plea to charges that include false bombing and false reporting. His lawyer did not immediately returned a call.

Meneses is accused of throwing an suspected bomb through the open window of an NYPD van parked in Times Square, then engaging police in a hourslong standoff at Columbus Circle.

The two cops in the Times Square vehicle, Sgt. Hameed Armani and Officer Peter Cybulski, noticed the device flash and click.

The officers decided to drive away from the crowded tourist area to a place with less people and traffic, actions which received high praise from Commissioner William Bratton and other city officials.

Meneses was arrested the next day at Columbus Circle after he barricaded himself in his car and engaged in negotiations with police for six hours.
